Lauren King (Licensed to perform marriages and civil unions in Hawaii)

KAUAI - With gracious warmth and true Aloha, Lauren brings the vibrance and insightful creativity of someone who truly believes in and loves what they do.  Lauren brings a background of spiritual practices into her work, including her time as a yoga instructor for over ten years and a Reiki master of three.  She is dedicated to making your ceremony unique and meaningful to you, embracing all belief systems and honoring them with an open heart, including couples who identify themselves as agnostic or atheist.  She believes that love is a universal language and needs no structured belief to be just as powerful.

Lauren attributes many of her strengths to what she has observed in her own family. Her compassionate, optimistic mother modeled positivity, forgiveness and love, and viewed the world with kindness and acceptance.  Lauren's father and mom she credits with showing her how a successful marriage works.  They put their love for each other above all else, and believe that “the grass isn't greener on the other side, you need to water and nurture your own grass!”   

Lauren's pursuit of a peaceful path eventually guided her to Kauai where she knew immediately that the island spoke to her spiritually, and knew it was her home.  Within a short time, people close to Lauren were encouraging her to become an officiant, citing her “old soul that has an amazing way of connecting with the heart.” Lauren became an officiant and certified in the State of Hawaii for an engaged friend who asked that Lauren perform her ceremony.  It felt so natural and joyous uniting them that soon Lauren was marrying people all over the island.  After being blessed with her first child, she felt her capacity for love grow even more, and with it her work as an officiant.  For each wedding, she truly feels honored to be part of a new chapter in their love story, and believes that your wedding should be like your love: simple and fun!  In her spare time, you will find Lauren outside- either playing in the dirt, attending her many orchids or enjoying all the nature and beauty Kauai has to offer.

Richard Spacer (Licensed to perform marriages and civil unions in Hawaii)

KAUAI - Richard Spacer is a new minister based on Kauai's eastside but no stranger to ceremony and public speaking. Born and raised in Greater Boston, Massachusetts, Richard was very active as a state officer in The Order of DeMolay, a fraternity for young men sponsored by the Freemasons that advocates public service, courtesy, comradeship, and love of family.

Several years of private and public ritual ceremonies and public speaking engagements served him well. Inspired by the motto of the Massachusetts Freemasons "Follow Reason", Richard has adopted this as a guide through life, evaluating situations with critical thinking and compassion, with a goal to inclusion of all with tolerance and understanding. This foundation lent itself well to his ordination as a Minister of Spiritual Humanism.

His background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu. Richard worked his way around the world as an English tutor in Taiwan, Austria, Greece, and Spain.

A long-time naturist, having discovered the local clothing-optional beach on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, he now serves as an appointed Area Representative of the Naturist Action Committee, advocating for and supporting the rights of naturists in Hawaii to enjoy their recreational and lifestyle choice.

He is available to perform ceremonies of marriage, civil union, and vow renewals that are secular, non-theistic, and non-religious, naturist or not. He does not perform religious weddings. Richard is willing to travel to islands besides Kauai for additional fees to cover expenses.

Linda Farr (Licensed to perform marriages and civil unions in Hawaii)

KAUAI - For the past five years Linda has practiced as a Life Coach, EFT Practitioner (Emotional Freedom Technique) and trauma relief trainer. Her purpose has been to guide individuals to create a better feeling life. Often this is accomplished by teaching techniques to reduce levels of anxiety and fear. Sometimes, the focus is on clarifying one's unique gifts, beliefs, values and interests. Her work as a minister incorporates all of these skills, assisting others to express themselves, and to create a meaningful ceremony which reflects their beliefs and preferences.

Before living on Kauai, Linda enjoyed a variety of life experiences, including teaching high school consumer education, then owning several floor covering businesses that flourished for 25 years. She also embraced marriage and motherhood, obtained her private pilot's license, had a horse, dogs and cats. She left the Midwest for Kauai, to achieve the island dream which always seemed to call her.

Brought up Catholic, she received an appreciation for a basic ‘Universal Spirit', but couldn't accept the dogmas attached. These rules seemed to exclude instead of unify people. Her actual life experiences led her to believe more in a ‘Spirit' which connects Earth, people, beasts, stones and stars, et al. Because we share the same solar system, it makes sense to try to live in harmony with it and all beings present.

William Snyder (Licensed to perform marriages and civil unions in Hawaii)

KAUAI - As a longtime resident of Kauai, Bill has been assisting couples with weddings since 2010. Bill's religious views are simple. Be fair and kind. Respect yourself. Respect others. Be Responsible for your actions.

If you choose Bill as your wedding officiant, Julie will likely gather the information and meet with you to create the ceremony, work out the details, and then Bill will perform the ceremony. He lends a calming and quietly spiritual presence to your day.

Alan Spector (Licensed to perform marriages and civil unions in Hawaii)

OAHU -- Alan has been active in the marriage equality movement since 1999, and was legally married to his husband in Ontario, Canada in 2005.

Before moving to Hawaii, Alan served as a district organizer and board member for Love Makes A Family, a statewide non-profit advocacy organization established to secure marriage for same sex couples in Connecticut. He was also active in organizing LGBT cultural events and marriage equality community education programs in northern New York.

Alan has a Master of Social Work with emphases in clinical social work and community organizing, and a Master of Arts in Jewish Studies. Alan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and has his own private psychotherapy practice. Alan also served as co-chair of Equality Hawaii from 2007 to 2009 and from 2010 to late 2011.
